This field is used with a Pick list. If this checkbox is checked, during execution of the Survey, an 'Other Specify' window will appear, when and if the 'Other Specify' response is selected. The 'Other Specify' will request additional information from the respondent.

Occassionally, new categories are added to a pick list over the years, due to 'coded items' that result from choosing the 'other specify' option. For example, if enough people choose 'other specify' with the same question and then 'specify' the same answer, then that category will be added to the pick list in the documentation.
